The virtual event took place from January 23rd to the 29th. The event was “organised by Bristol based music tech initiative Saffron”.
In their official web they explained: “Saffron presents 7 Days of Sound, a brand new week-long digital event to connect, empower and inspire a global community of women and non-binary people in music tech. Workshops will take place on Zoom and will be led by world-class hosts, catering to folks of all backgrounds and levels of experiences.”
7 Days of Sound had an spectacular line-up full of talented artists and professionals as Anna Meredith, SHERELLE, Ana Lakatos, Shura , Suzi Analogue… Some examples of the workshops done during 7 Days of Sound were “Creative Production,” “Business Matters” and “DJing & Radio.”
The beautiful Saffron approach is to reduce the gender imbalance within the Electronic-Tech music industry.
They achieve this through teaching female and non-binary artists/ professionals about music production, DJing, sound engineering as well as mentoring them and develop their professional careers.
The organizers informed that “While we do not ban cisgender men from attending, we hope that they will respect that this event is not intended for them. More info can be found about our gender policy on the event page.”
