Belgian DJ and producer Tom Sleeps unveils his new excellent track “Petrichor”, a fast and energetic festive tune with a danceable atmosphere.
“Petrichor” is a fast-paced track with a progressive electronic beginning that introduces a velocity, and a repeated cadence comparable to a steam engine in full throttle. Petrichor, named for the smell that rises when rain falls after a long dry spell, will leave you entranced in an atmosphere of festive tones, combined with the artist’s signature sonic elements to create a whole new holistic and unreduced driving experience.
As the artist says, “I decided to call it that because of what I felt in the first versions of the track, the lungs open, the world breathes again and that feeling doesn’t stop after the first minute”.
In his early days, Tom Sleeps was content to dump sounds from his computer and spin records on a virtual DJ booth. He was constantly churning out music until the pandemic inspired him to turn his hobby into quality music production. It was only two years later that his first tracks were released, one of them was played at Tomorrowland 2022 and the artist guarantees that some promising projects are in process.
Tom’s inspiration comes above everything else from his appreciative family environment, which has allowed him to evolve and increase his knowledge of the musical world. He was also inspired by artists like Aly & Fila, A.R.D.I, Armin Van Buuren, Eric Prydz and partly the whole trance producers family.
Tom Sleeps finds himself drawn to the ability of such artists to combine classical elements with fast-paced electronic music. The main genres being melodic, progressive/trance.
He describes his style as limitless, although his signature sound is closest to the use of driving psytrance bass lines, combined with the more festive sounds of EDM inspired by the recognizable saw wave sounds of the 90’s all set to a high BPM around 130-140 bpm.
